"Captiva- The Doc Ford Novels #4"

Florida fisheries have been dwindling. Something must be done... the state is going to act and people are taking sides, protecting their interests. Doc Ford has the clear picture of the situation, but even his friends hold that against him. He must go to the "bottom of the earth" to find justice for a deadly deed resulting from the commercial net fishing ban.

 Randy's Comments:
The fourth Ford novel, and the first to be written in first person. For those of us who live on coastal Florida, the commercial net ban controversy was a political wedge that divided whole families and old friends. I liked the idea that Doc Ford, a purely linear person and a biologist, could explore both sides of the story. I also love the character Hannah Smith -- as, apparently, do many many readers, male and female. On recent book signings trips to Colorado and Texas, the most common question asked of me was: "Does Hannah really exist?" In each voice there was a genuine wistfulness -- they wanted her to be real...as do I. It also may be of interest to note that Hannah's house as described in the novel is now my house: An old tin roofed, clapboard sided Florida house, built on an Indian mound overlooking Pine Island Sound.
